The entire attic is insulated except over the garage (unconditioned). Since the garage stays very cold in the winter and warm in the summer, should I add batt insulation over the garage? My concern is the fact that it is shared with the rest of my living area."

Answer: Insulation is designed to maintain temperature longer by slowing the movement of heat through a wall or ceiling. So, if the garage is not conditioned and it gets hot in the summer, insulation will maintain that high temperature longer.
